An unusual rescue was carried out by members of the Thai Navy: they removed four cats that had been housed in a sinking boat.

On Tuesday, the Phamonsin Nava 10 fishing boat caught fire and started to sink, about 8 miles off the paradise island of Koh Adang. The members of the crew fell into the sea and were rescued by a passing fisherman.

Shortly afterward, the Navy was called to the scene to check for an oil spill. When the navy arrived, soon discovered a few forgotten members of the crew, 4 ginger cats.

“I used my camera to zoom in to the boat, and I saw one or two cats popping their heads out,” said First-Class Petty Officer Wichit Pukdeelon of the navy’s air and coastal defense division.

The animals, according to local media, were not injured. The 4 cats appeared to be doing well and have grown fond of their new human friends.
