Adventurous Cat And His Owner Travel The US Together
JJ Yosh is a social media influencer and adventurer (Check the top Cat Instagram Accounts here). Back in 2016, he adopted Simon, a 10-pound black Bombay cat. Yosh started taking the cute feline on hikes and outdoor explorations immediately.
“I started taking him on every single adventure that I went on. He loves being outside.” Yosh said. Yosh decided to train Simon to be an adventure cat because he wanted the feline to experience the outdoors safely as there are so many chances to get attacked by other animals.
For Yosh, taking Simon outside with him for activities was a way to protect him from predators, and ended up bonding with his adventurous cat.
Every time they are on an adventure and Simon gets tired, Yosh carries him on his shoulders. “This is his favorite place,” Yosh says. “That’s how he became known as Backpacking Kitty because he backpacks on my back all the time.”
A few of their adventures include rock climbing in Breckenridge, sailing on Clinton Lake in Kansas, white water rafting in the Sacramento River, camping and rappelling in canyons of Death Valley National Park, and more.
“I love how Simon is so curious about the world around him,” Yosh says. “I never eat alone,” he added. “He’ll do anything to get a piece of food from me.”
Along with his adventurous spirit, Simon has a variety of tricks, including high fives, handshakes, kisses, and hugs.
“In a lot of ways, he does feel like my kid,” Yosh says. “He is my soulmate and my guardian angel.”
